well, like the thread title says, this brings back a lot of memories. damn..
to clarify this a little bit -
like i said in the "Introduce Yourself" thread i come from Slovakia. that used to be a part of Czechoslovakia (until 1993, when politicians decided it was time to split). and, as (maybe) most of you know we used to be a part of so-called "Soviet satellites", meaning we were living in a Communist Party ruled country. well, many of you will say "gee, that must have been awful", but it wasn't. nobody had any money trouble, everyone had a place to live (homes were "given" to you by the state, if you could not afford one), everyone had a job, we could even afford to travel abroad to have a wonderful holiday (well, to another of our "friendly" countries only, but never mind). i was young then, and maybe that's the reason i don't see anything wrong about that era now. but..
there was one disadvantage, though. and that was culture. not many movies were made by our "approved" film industry, and to see American movie in a cinema was unheard of. our state television used to have a looong breaks during the day for some reason i could not completely understand (meaning they stopped the programs around 10 a.m, and resumed broadcasting at around 5 p.m.), and even the evening with TV was mostly boring. so our only "real" entertainment came from watching Austrian (not to mistake with Australian) TV (they speak German in Austria, and that's why the video is in German here). and oh my, what a wonderful movies (and music too) they used to broadcast. that's where we saw all the movies that were great (movies i love until today, like Terminator, Highlander, Beastmaster...), along with TV series of that era. so one day i came to school in the morning, and one of my friends asked me - "hey, man, did you watch KITT yesterday?". "nope, what is it, this KITT?" i asked, and he explained that there was this new TV show about "talking and jumping car" running on Austrian TV at 18:45 p.m. and that was when i was stuck to the TV screen every day from then on. man, what i saw was just awesome. it was a show that stole my heart, and i cried when it ended (i was like 8 yrs old then). i thought they were going to play it forever. KITT was all we talked about in school, dreamed about at night, simply put there wasn't a kid that wasn't speaking to his watch every time he wanted to say something. and you should have seen me when (after a year, or so) they started running it again, this time the whole 1st, 2nd, and 3rd season together. i knew the exact date from my schoolmate, and at that date i was glued to the TV from 4 p.m. i was sooo excited about KITT's return. and when the show started, and the opening credits were running, big tears of joy were running down my cheeks, i cried like a baby. it was simply too overwhelming..
so nobody will be surprised that Knight Rider (all 4 seasons) has a very special place in my DVD collection (and this thread is in "Off Topic", since it's not much about Muscle cars)..
